Job purpose: Management of indirect taxation in relation with Central Excise & Service tax, systematically and effectively for the business to ensure compliance to prescribed rules and regulation.
Accountabilities:
1. Compliance to Central Excise rules and regulations in our business activity.
2. Managing all statutory audits effectively to have minimum nos of litigations/show causes.
3. Keep updated with the recent changes in Excise laws and regulations and use the same effectively for the business interest.
4. Earliest resolution of the existing litigations against Central Excise department in a justified way.
5. Training on Excise rules and regulations to the non –excise personnel of bulk sites.
Performance measures
• No of non-compliance.
• No of show causes.
• Effective use of the changes for the business.
• No of cases being solved.
No of trainings provided
Operating environment:
The management of Indirect Taxation is quite challenging as the revenue is always on the prowl for augmentation of more revenue by way of slapping assessee with Show cause notices for this purpose. A person handling indirect Tax matter needs to be always in the self-education mode in order to protect Company’s interest.
Dimensions:
Direct report: One
a) Value of Excise Duty outflow Rs 460 M.
b) Value of Service Tax outflow Rs 7 M.
c) Value of Cenvat Credit inflow: Rs 32 M.
d) Value of Cenvat Credit inflow: Rs 10 M.
Skills:
a) Legal expertise in indirect taxation.
b) Communication skill
c) Excellent public relation as the job involves interaction with departmental official spread over 12 commission rates.
Education and Experience:
Graduate with at least 8-10 years experience in handling indirect taxes.
