Employment in India

India stands second in terms of population after China. It has a workforce of than 440 million and many a number of English speaking graduates in this fast growing economy where the employment opportunities has also increased in a large way.

Employments

Banking and Finance

The money market in India is classified into Public, private and foreign owned commercial banks and cooperative banks in unison it is called scheduled banks. The unorganized sector and micro credit are still preferred over the traditional banks in the sub-urban and rural areas, mainly for non-productive purposes like ceremonies and short duration loans.

The public sector holdings are around 75 percent of the total assets of the banking industry and the foreign and private banks have 18 and 6 percent respectively. More than half of the personal savings are invested into physical assets like houses, land, gold and cattle. India ranks first in the saving rate.

Child labor

It is a very complex problem which is basically because of the poverty line. Indian government is taking the initiative to implement the world's largest child labor elimination program with primary education that is targeted for 250 million and many non-government and voluntary organizations are also involved. They have special investigation cells that are set up in different states to enforce the ban of employment of children who are below the age of 14.

Casual workers

Almost 30 percent of workers are casual workers who work only when they get jobs and they stay without a salary when they do not have jobs. Unemployment here is defined by the chronic or the disguised unemployment. The government tries its best by providing loans or financial assistance for the purpose of setting up business like skill honing, reservations in governments, and also setting up public sector enterprises.

The recent trend in India that is gaining much momentum is the IT world that employs thousands of IT professionals in the various BPO and KPO centers. Out sourcing provides adequate employment opportunities for thousands of graduates in India.
