Nandanvan - Tapovan Trek |

 This trek is best recommended for adventure lovers fond of rock- climbing, boulder- hopping and glacier traversing. It is also a treat for nature lovers due to the range and diversity of plant and animal life. Herds of Bharal (Blue Mountain Goat) are often spotted on these mountain ridges.
Abundance of Silver Birch has given birth to the name Bhojkharak, while chirbasa is also called because of the clumps of blue pine in the region.
The trek starts at Gangotri with a pleasant undulating 14 kms walk to Bhojbasa, for an overnight halt. The next day involves a short 4 kms trek to Gaumukh sources of the holy Ganga, and a 6 kms hike to Nandanvan over boulders and morraine. Tents may be pitched near a beautiful crystal clear stream here. The view of various Himalayn peaks, particularly Shivling is fabulous.
The next day witnesses glaciers traverse as one crosses to over Tapovan, the meditating grounds of sages and saints. A night halt at Bhojwasa, and the trek is completed by returning to base at Gangotri.
